My first CAS interview.

Hello there!
As it is proper to fulfil it. I am posting my first CAS interview.

It was quite interersting to write it whole, I hope it is good.

First CAS interview:

Student’s name: Jan Malicki
1.Do you have any questions or concerns about CAS?
No, I do not have any questions and/or concerns. If any appear, they are answered by my CAS coordinator.

 2. Which aspect of the programme excites you the most? Which aspect seems most challenging?
The most challenging I find the service part of the programme. Helping others requires both huge amount of preparations, as well as hours of time. I am concerned that also the activity imposes some restrictions on my life, such as healthy diet and regular meal times.

3. What do you most hope to achieve from CAS?
I hope to gain the ability to further develop each part of the programme. Earn enough experience to further engage in voluntary work as well as understand the means needed to enhance my hobbies.

4. How do you think your CAS programme will enable you to grow? How do these areas of growth apply to the attributes of the IB learner profile?
In my opinion CAS programme enables me to find experience in many different areas of knowledge, as well as disciplines. I think that CAS gives me the opportunity to develop the risk-taker side of me.

5. What have you learned about the CAS stages, and how can the stages help you in CAS?
I am deeply persuaded that an aim without the plan is just the wish. Therefore, the stages of the projects made me realize that in the CAS programme one needs to organize his time in order to fulfil all the requirements. What is more, each stage should be thought thoroughly and regarded separately.

6. How will you plan for an equal distribution of CAS strands across your CAS experiences?
One can stress that taking part in activities that include all of the mentioned aspects of the programme are the best way to assure the equal distribution of CAS strands. Nevertheless, I find it quite difficult to have them all developed to the same extent. As a result, I try to focus to put up with all the difficulties equally.

7. What organizational and time-management strategies do you have in place to ensure that CAS remains an ongoing focus of your IB journey?
As far as organisation is concerned, I have all of the events mentioned and described in my calendar on my mobile device. This allows me to be always in touch with all the needed information. In addition to, I tend to follow the timetable quite thoroughly, rarely deviating from the plan.

1. What are your main interests? How can you incorporate these interests into your CAS programme?
My main interests are acting and RPG games. These allow me to fulfil the demands of Creativity as well as Activity through various events. In addition to, I am quite into cooking, which also gives me the opportunity to find fulfilment of my imagination.

2. What do you enjoy doing after school? Could this be part of any CAS experience?
I enjoy spending time on fresh air, for example through taking walks and running. I believe it is a fantastic opportunity to actively live my life.

3. What are your personal goals? How could they be achieved through CAS?
A very important goal in my life is learning about culture and languages. CAS programme allows me to meet many people, some from different countries. Therefore, I am able to complete further steps to my aims.
4. How can you advance your skills and talents through CAS?
Through CAS lessons I am given an opportunity to better understand the artistic world around me. We participate in many different exhibitions, as well as sometimes have the possibility to see some happenings. I am able to develop my artistic talents.

5. What school, community or other groups or teams are you already involved in?
I am involved in a fantastic group of people: “Lubliniani Erpegowcy K2”. In fact, we all indulge in our hobby, being devoted to Pen and Paper games, as well as various theatrical exercises. I am really grateful this group of people exists and is able to cooperate so well.

6. Have you had any previous experiences that you would view as CAS?
When I was in Music school we often used our skills in order to perform voluntarily for many people. Usually, these were concerts in important places in our city, such as state institutions or performances during enormous events. What is more, we also played or sang in hospitals and earned the approval of the patients.

7. How could something you do currently (for example, swimming) be made into a CAS experience with new opportunities to add skills and meet challenges?
One of my hobbies is drawing, however I do not consider it to be a part of my CAS experience. Therefore, in the future, it may seem that such a possibility would exist. I am concerned that drawing could fulfil some of the CAS aspects.

8.What issues of local significance concern you most? How could you address these in your CAS programme?
I am deeply concerned with the problem of Global Warming and the depravation of the natural environment. I am thinking that a way to address them in my CAS programme could be some voluntary event, such as a school action, that would promote the segregation of litter. In addition to, I am going to take measures to change my lifestyle so that it is better for the surroundings.

Student plans for CAS Questions
1. What would you enjoy doing for creativity? Activity? Service?
I would enjoy lessons in arts that would improve my photography, acting etc. Skills.
As far as activity is concerned, a fantastic way are the inter-school sports competitions between different classes. Service could be done through some various activities organised by the school.

2. Have you made any plans for creativity? Activity? Service? For each, what are you hoping to learn or do you have skills you want to develop?
Yes, I have made some plans for activity. Because the holidays can be slowly seen and the weather outside is getting prettier, I plan to take part in more sports in the future. In fact, I have signed into a group of basketball players from my school that is going to meet in order to play. Other areas, I plan to continue fulfilling the way I did so far.

 CAS learning outcomes Questions
1. How would you summarize these learning outcomes?

2. From the plans you already have, do you see any opportunities that may be helpful in meeting these learning outcomes?
Yes, I do. I am in the position that I think that I could organize more school events in the future or in our city, as I have the skills and possibilities to do so.

3. What learning outcome appears as something you will easily do?
I think that giving presentations about cultures of some countries would not be very challenging for me, as I have studied many aspects of the German or Japanese lives.

4. What learning outcome might present a significant challenge?
I think that definitely activities concerning children as well as teenagers in primary or secondary school. It may prove difficult as I am not a very patient person and could be irritated by their behaviour.

5. What learning outcome might you address in the first six months of your CAS programme?
I am more than willing to address the presentations about the languages. They seem to be the most appropriate activities right now.

I plan to reflect through posts on my CAS blog. This is a very good way to show my reflections, as this forma enables to truly show my thoughts.

4. How can you keep track of your plans and meeting the learning outcomes through your portfolio?
My CAS blog has many different filters that allow to sort the things I do for the programme. What is more, there are always dates mentioned, so it is easy to keep track of the events.
